Associations of long-term average concentrations of nitrogen dioxide with mortality [1]

Precis

Latest report from the Committee on the Medical Effects of Air Pollutants which reduces the 40,000 deaths figure for combined NO2 and PM2.5 mortality burden. The report highlights many uncertainties and caveats on the effects of air pollution, expressing concern that previous reported caveats have been ignored. The report also contains a "minority report" demonstrating that there are clear divisions in scientific opinion on the health effects.
